We have been going to this restuarant for years and love the vibe, the food, and the friendly servers. Most employees have been at this restaurant for a very long time..... love it!!! As I sit at the table and watch the servers great regulars that have been coming in for many, many years, it warms my heart! I ordered the sausage omlette and it was hot with fresh ingredients. My drink was refilled (without asking). Our server was Marie and she was great!! Recommend going here if you want home cooking with friendly people in a friendly atmosphere!

We waited about 4 minutes to be seated in this retro style restaurant. After we decided what we wanted, we were served in under 5 minutes!!! The chicken pies were tasty... Mild and delicious. We chose gravy on the side to avoid having too much. They serve multiple flavors of homemade pies as well... Look delicious, but we were too full... Maybe next time. We saw homemade cookies for .99 on the way out. Love the 4 percent discount for cash!! Wheelchair could two of us eat for $21.27 in CA??

After driving by this place countless times, I finally decided to give SDCPS a try after an evening of debauchery - because what better way to cap off a wild night than with a good ol' chicken pie? The interior is large and the furniture is... well, let's call it "eclectic." But hey, it's part of the character and charm of the place. The service is decently friendly, and they get the job done - no complaints there. Now, onto the food! The go-to dish, of course, is the chicken pie. It's filled with chunks of chicken in a flaky pie crust, and you won't find an overload of veggies in it, which is just how I like it. The country fried steak is also tasty, and if you're in the mood for breakfast, their huge Belgian waffle is a winner! The only downside for me is the hash browns. They're cooked well, but they have this odd flavor from the oil used on the flattop. Not my favorite. Before you leave, make sure to grab a slice of their delicious pie or some cookies to round off your gluttony. Trust me, you won't regret it! Welp! Onto the next!

You stand waiting to be seated for a while before anyone ever acknowledges or notices you. This is true whether just three of us are in line as one party or 12 of us in line as multiple parties. So I think that aspect of the service can be improved. But once you order come, the food comes out pretty quickly. While we really enjoy the chicken pot pie, which actually consists of chicken and turkey meat, I think it would be great if the restaurant offered an option of chicken pot pie with vegetables, even if it's just carrots and celery. I am an absolute meat, lover, but I actually would like something else in my pot pie besides meat. We also had a bowl of chicken soup. Which actually was chicken and rice. It was a little salty, but needed pepper. The menu listed soup as $4.99 a bowl, but I was charged $5.40 but didn't say anything. New to me is that you get 4% off your bill if you pay in cash, so the restaurant doesn't have to pay the merchandise transaction fee. This is a nice option. This place closes at 8 PM, even on a Saturday night, so make sure you get there with enough time to order. Street parking is available and I've never had an issue.
